Our Vision
Simple. GROUNDED in God, GROWING in Christ and GIVING to others.
GROUNDED in God: Believers are GROUNDED in God through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Being GROUNDED is represented by the roots of the tree where nourishment and nutrients flow to the branches, leaves and fruit. The root system determines the health of the tree. We connect to God primarily through worship - both private and corporate. This determines our spiritual strength and health. In addition to worship, there are other resources to help you to be GROUNDED in God. If you are a new believer, the book "More Abundant Life" will help you have a strong start to stay grounded in the Lord. If you have been a believer for some time and have found that you have drifted away for God, then we reccommend the bokk "The Purpose Driven Life" (Warren). Contact the church office if you would like one of these books. GROWING in Christ GROWING in Christ is represented by the trunk and branches of the tree. If the branches are weak, they will break and threaten the health and life of the tree. In our spiritual relationship with God, growth is also essential. We grow by learning God's truth and living God's Word every day. To help you to grow, we offer many Bible Study opportunities. This includes our Bible Study hour on Sunday mornings and other specific discipleship studies at other times. We have special studies for women, men, mothers of preshoolers, etc. Growing in Christ is not just studying the Bible - it is putting into practice the living truth in our lives. GIVING to Others: The Bible makes it very clear that our relationship to God and the life that God gives us is so we can GIVE to others. This is one way God can truly bless your life. Giving is repreented by the 'fruit' of the tree. The fruit is the essence and purpose for the tree. The stately oaks that stand on our church grounds remind us of the strength found in the Lord. An Oak tree is not known for its fruit (unless you are a squirrel!). If we are to fulfill the purpose that God has given to each of us, we must give to others! We have connected with many organizations in our community that do great ministry to those in need. You can see a sample of these here. |
