Hal West, Senior Pastor

Personal:
Pastor Hal is a Moncks Corner native. Born and raised in Berkeley County, he has spent most of his life living and ministering among family and lifelong friends. He and his wife, Elliott, have two children: Laura, who lives and works in Boston, and Brian, who is a graduate of the Citadel.

Education/Ministry:
Hal accepted the call to ministry while he was a student at the University of South Carolina. From there he continued his education by receiving a Master's of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. Later, he completed his Doctorate at Fuller Seminary.

In 1978, Hal accepted two ministerial positions. He was Pastor at Berkeley Baptist Church and Mission Pastor at Sangaree Baptist Mission. In 1986, he was called to serve as Associate Pastor at First Baptist Moncks Corner. In 1990, upon the retirement of Rev. Norman Gillespie, he accepted the call to serve as our Senior Pastor.

Passion:
Hal's passion in the church is teaching and preaching the Word of God and seeing the church renewed in its own passion to know Christ and make Him known.

Interesting Fact:
Hal says, "I enjoy cooking when I have the time, but I enjoy Elliott's cooking more!"
