Personal/Education:
George was born and raised in Anderson, SC. He graduated from Anderson Junior College and then transferred to Carson-Newman College in Jefferson City, Tennessee. He then joined the U. S. Army and went straight to Vietnam. When he returned, he was stationed in Colorado where he met Patricia Susan Wood, a senior at the University of Northern Colorado. It was "love at first sight", and they were married January 1, 1971 at 1 p.m. "I never forget my anniversary!"

They moved back to Anderson, SC in 1973. That's where their sons Greg and JJ were born. Their daughter, Anna was born later in Columbia, where George received another music degree from the University of South Carolina.

Ministry:
George has served on staff at churches in Anderson (SC), Colorado Springs (CO), Honea Path (SC), Columbia (SC), and been on staff at First Baptist since 1984.

Passion:
George desires to lead in worship those who gather on Sundays. "For those who have a personal relationship with Jesus, we worship together, offering God our very best! Others that may attend, we pray will be attracted to God and His family." George's prayer is that when their hearts and minds are ready, he may be used to lead them into the presence of God.

Interesting Fact:
When there is time, he spends some of it working outside on their 10 acre homesite just outside of town - and he loves it!
